Glove Care Guide

Before First Use: Remove Protective Film

IMPORTANT: Some Paragon gloves come with a protective plastic film over the latex palm.

How to Remove:

  1. Start from the bottom (wrist area) and gently peel upward toward fingers
  2. Add a small amount of water to help lift the film away from latex
  3. Pull slowly and carefully—avoid picking off any latex underneath
  4. Work methodically across each finger

Why We Use Film: This protective layer keeps your gloves clean, prevents damage during shipping, and preserves optimal grip until you're ready to use them.

Pre-Wash Your Gloves

To prewash new goalkeeper gloves before their first use, follow these simple steps to activate the latex and remove any factory residue:

1. Rinse with Lukewarm Water
Place the gloves under lukewarm (not hot) running water. Gently squeeze the palms to help release the manufacturing film that sits on top of the latex.

This dissolves any invisible factory film and activates the latex

2. Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring)

3. Let dry naturally at room temperature away from direct sunlight

This simple step activates your gloves' natural grip properties.

During Use: Keep Gloves Damp

CRITICAL: Love your glove!!!

  • Moisten palms with water before matches or training
  • Re-dampen throughout use—dry gloves lose grip rapidly
  • Dry gloves on dry surfaces can wear out in a single session
  • Keep a water bottle handy to refresh palms between plays

Damp gloves = Better grip + Longer lifespan.

After Use: Wash Immediately

Never put dirty gloves in your bag! Dirt, sweat, and oils eat away at soft latex.

Washing Instructions:

  1. Rinse gloves in lukewarm water immediately after use
  2. Add a small amount of mild soap or specialized glove wash
  3. Gently massage palms and fingers to remove dirt
  4. Rinse thoroughly until all soap is removed
  5. DO NOT machine wash or use harsh detergents

Avoid:

  • Bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh chemicals
  • Hot water (damages latex)
  • Scrubbing or twisting gloves aggressively.

Drying Your Gloves

Natural Drying Only

  1. Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring or twist)
  2. Wrap in a clean towel and apply pressure to absorb moisture
  3. Air dry at room temperature in a cool, ventilated area
  4. Drying time: 24-48 hours

NEVER:

  • Use radiators, hair dryers, or heat sources
  • Place in direct sunlight
  • Use tumble dryers or airing cupboards
  • Store before completely dry

Heat destroys latex and shortens glove lifespan dramatically.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dark, dry place
  • Use a breathable bag (not sealed plastic)
  • Avoid pressing palms together (latex can stick)
  • Keep away from UV light and extreme temperatures

Removing Your Gloves Safely

Special care for Roll Finger and Negative Cut gloves!

Stitched seams come under immense stress during removal. Burst seams from improper removal are NOT covered by warranty.

Safe Removal:

  1. Place one gloved hand under your armpit, squeeze the armpit and pull hand from the glove, repeat the process on other hand.
  2. Work each finger out slowly and individually
  3. Never force or rush removal, especially when gloves are wet
  4. Ensure correct sizing—tight gloves stress seams excessively

Pro Tips for Maximum Lifespan

Rotate two pairs: Use one for training, one for matches. When match gloves lose peak grip, demote them to training and buy new match gloves.

Size matters: Gloves that are too tight stress seams and restrict movement. Too loose reduces control. Check our sizing guide.

Surface awareness: Hard, abrasive surfaces wear latex faster. Use appropriate gloves for training vs. match conditions.

Proper technique: Good handling and diving technique protects palms from excessive ground contact.
